Direct Routing PowerBI Templates - MS CQD

Hi

I am a total noob with PowerBI and have very limited time learning this so I am hoping some kind person would provide some assistance. 

MS have developed a number of PowerBI templates for use with Teams and they essentially use the Microsoft Call Quality Dashboard as the data source. We are interested in the Direct Routing template, however I cannot for the life of me work out how I can target the report to be based on different criteria. I thought I could simply add a filter like I can in the native CQD detailed reports to filter on traffic between point A and point B instead of ALL traffic. However I really cant see how I can do this.

 

I would be forever grateful if someone could have a look and see if htey could suggest how I could do this or if it is even possible?

Field value as text column not appearing on online service.

I have been having some issues with a “field value as text” once I have convernted it to text.  On the deskstop version it works ok and I am able to use it to report but once I publish it online the data goes missing from the Report. 

 

To try and work out why, I downloaded it from the online service and opened it in the desktop version. Once opened the data was still missing but when I went into Edit Query the data was there. So I refreshed the data and it appeared back in the report. 

 

Any help will be greatly apreciated.

Save report into My worspace

I have created a report using a data set on Power Bi services in a "DEV" workspace,. I want to save that report under "My workspace " not in "DEV". Is it possible?

Dashboard Tiles doesn't refresh

Hi,

 

My dashboard tiles does not update automatically anymore even my dataset updates successfully.

 

If i click on Refresh button on the dashboard, the tiles update, but this is not very convenient when using the dashboard on TV monitors....

 

Anyone who has a good idea how to fix this?

Connection to Azure DB requesting Gateway for Power BI Service

Apologies if there is a thred answering this already. I could not find one.

 

We have several reports that connect to an Azure SQL DB without a data gateway (from what I have read, this is perfectly normal). We also have reports that use flat file data imported from our network via a Data Gateway. And other reports that use a combination of both. All of which are refreshed on a schedule.

 

All apart from one. This report is asking for a data gateway connection to the Azure DB (Note: The 'Data source credentials' are setup with no connection error).

 

When I refresh it, I get this connection error.

The 'Gateway connection' appears to be asking me to connect to the Azure DB via a data gateway (below image) detailing the same server details as in the 'Data source credentials'

The only unique thing I can see regarding this is that during the data import, I am merging data from the flat file into a table created from an Azure DB table. I can't see how that would effect the connection but thought it worth mentioning. 

 

Does anyone know what I am missing?

Get alert from a tile without subscribing the dashboard?

Hi everyone,

 

Is it possible to get an alert when a value of a specific tile is over the threshold but do not subscribe to the whole dashboard?

 

Currently, I received some complaints from subscribers that they do not want to get an email from Power BI just because they subscribe to a dashboard, but they do like to get alert if so the sales volume in a tile is over a certain value.

Matrix Row Not Showing

Here is the Desktop Dropdown working just fine

Yet when I publish the matrix to the online service this is what I get

There is no dropdown. It only works when I edit it online and save but once I publish again from my desktop app the proper functionality is gone.

Hi, I am getting this error while refreshing the report from the gateway and the source is SAP HANA.

I do not get this error always it's just some days I get this error out of nowhere and another day the report refreshes perfectly fine, I have seen some post mentioning the same error but did not get any clear resolution. Can someone guide me from where can I start troubleshooting this?

From my attempts, the exports always have the original visuals and not the personalized ones.

Hi everyone.
I am a SDET and I test the reports using c#, JS and selenium. I look for the hard statement for my code that all data in the page was loaded. I tried to use <document.readyState == 'complete',> but it does not work well.
Do you have ideas what I can check else in the page to be sure that page was fully loaded and I see the final values?

registering gateway with new user account

Hi,

 

Currently, the gateway is installed with my office 365 account which has power bi pro license. Now, we want to register the gateway with a generic account rather than indiviual's name. So, we have created a generic email account and assigned power bi pro license with admin privilege to this generic account.

 

Which approach should i follow to register the gateway with new generic account: Should I uninstall the gateway and reninstall with the new generic account and do all other changes in power bi service or Is there any other better way to do it?

I'm trying to publish the Power BI desktop report into an existing workspace. I'm the Admin for the workspace and uses an on-premise gateway to refresh the data. It throws me this weird error. Did anyone face this problem before? checked old forums, nothing helped. Any suggestions or help?

Analyze in Excel Memory Error

I have a Power BI dataset in the Power BI service and when I try to use Analyze in Excel against the model I receive the error "Memory error: A record (65569 bytes) was encountered that exceeds the maximum page size of the storage object (65528 bytes)."

I understand that this error is about the size of data in a row being larger than the maximum size allowed in a tabular data model. But, I do not receive this error when I use Power BI desktop to connect to the dataset in the Power BI service which should be using the same API and have the same Analysis Services limitations as using analyze in Excel.  Also, this error is thrown when I try to use fields/measures from any tables in the model.

 

  1. Has anyone run into this error before?
  2. Does anyone know how the size of a row in Power BI is calculated or if it can be viewed in Power BI desktop somehow?
    1. Is the size of a row just the size in that table or is it the combined size of all rows that have a relationship to that table?

What is the best way to export a matrix from power bi to excel or csv automatically?

I have a pbix file that i published to the service and I set up a on prem gateway that i refresh on a schedule.  I want to find a way to export my matrix visuals into an excel or csv format every time my dataset is refreshed daily.  Then i want to email it to someone that does not have power bi license.  If I can even auto email the file that would be even better.  

 

I know I can analyze in excel, but I'd have to build the matrix up.  If I can build it only once and have it automatically fetch the new data every day that would be great as well.  but will the recipients be able to use it without power bi lic?

 

I also read that it can be done with R scripting but that requires me to have a premium license.  So I am not too sure which road to follow in for my given circumstances. I hope someone can help.  Thanks

How can I refresh data daily but maintain a certain amount of data each time?

I have pbix file that I published to the service and I refresh data daily through the on prem gateway.  The dataset starts from 2009 and every day I refresh the dataset grows.  I'd like to just maintain 10 years of data at a maximum.  Is there a way to refresh to get up to the latest data, but not keep anything older then 10 years ,meaning some of the earlier data I would want to remove from the dataset.  And this needs to be done everyday I refresh.  

 

I am getting data from on prem data source (oracle).  I understand there is direct query, but I have built out tons of measures, and calculated columns, and even added an additional table in power bi, so not sure if direct query would work.  Hope someone can help. Thanks.

I have an issue when I try to export my report in PDF file.

I have a web server with image and show in my report.

 

In web report is OK, but when I export, thi objet say "This visual does not support export".

 

Can you help me?

Power BI Service App Not Working for some Power BI Pro License Users

We have deployed a Power BI report within Power BI service and have created an app to share with users. In the "permissions" section of the app we have added the appropriate users we would like to view the app.

 

Recently... some users who have been recently added do not see the reports within the app created. They either experience the following:

  1. A) The app says "updating" and never loads the content
  2. B) When the user clicks on the link they get the following screenshot below:

We have tested the following and still received no luck resolving the issue:

- Checked if the user has a Power BI pro license

- Granted the user access to the workspace and the app

- Tried deleting the users app then readding it in the app source section

- tried multiple browsers (chrome, edge)

- tried creating a duplicate report to see if the user sees the report

- added the user to a "group" then added that group to permissions to see if that would fix the problem

 

Has anyone else experienced this issue recently?

 

Any help would be appreciated.

How to replace the same report(with the same name) with different Modes

Hi Everyone,

I have been struggling to give users a same link to an specific report that was named as report.pbix with DirectQuery and now that I publish it with different mode and with the same name, that report wasn't replaced instead it was doubled , how to avoid that issue. Is there any posibility without using apps.

Bigquery Data Refresh fail due to Rest API Interaction Error

Hi All,

 

Since yesterday, we are facing refresh issues in many of our PowerBI dashboards (from Google Bigquery).

 

Following is the error:

Processing errorODBC: ERROR [HY000] [Microsoft][BigQuery] (100) Error interacting with REST API: Not found: Job bnb-merchant:job_URKbOfdE8vPSRBDPwm1AvO2L7P

 

When I check the job at BQ end, the job has run successfully. Please help in resolving this issue.

Row level security for internal users and external users

Hi  All ,

 

Is there  possibility to  show  same report  to Internal users and External  users  in 2 different levels using row level security ??
Here Levels means ...if the internal user is login then the report has to show for full  level  and if external user login the report has to show different level 

Example : country >>state>>district> total sales
If the internal user login the report has to display   "Country >>state>>district>> Total sales"
If the external user login the report has to display  "District>> Total sales" using rowlevel security
