Usage Metrics (Unable to download .PBIx) and unable to Analyze using Excel

Hi, 

 

I have downloaded the .odc file of the usage metrics report around 10 months back and I keep refreshing it on excel without any issues. Recently, I noticed that the data in excel is not updated while in the usage metrics report it is generated by Power BI has the latest data. 

 

I tried downloading new .odc file but the option of Analyze using Excel has disappeared from the report. 

 

I tried upgrading the workspace and use the new usage metrics report but still I'm facing same problem in which  Analzye in Excel is not appearing and downloading the Power BI report (.PBIX) is greyed.

powerbi desktop is very slow

Hi, 

 

I really need help, the work with PBI.

The work with PBI is appalling! Everything is so slow, I am not talking about uploading the information but really also about the manipulations of the information, and not something heavy but just changing the data type takes between 10 minutes and 15 minutes waiting.

 

The refractors are slow, everything is falling. Even the dashboard with only 60,000 lines.

 

I pay for the premium PBI and that way I look forward to receiving the service accordingly.

I am currently disappointed, and right now I can't work because it takes so long. 

 

please help.

Do not works shceduled refresh with datasource parametr. how to fix it?

in power bi service i get error in sheduled refresh:

 As far as I understand, the error occurs because the workspace list is a parameter. How to fix it?

Incremental refresh data changes on dataflow

Dear all, 

 

I have a Data flow with the below incremental refresh settings. 

 

With this settings, will it detect and refresh data changes for the 2 years or only for the past 5 days?

 

I was assuming that it would detect data changes for the whole period and refresh no matter what the last 5 days.

Data flow validating message

After to create the data flow with a few tables (6), the time for "validate queries" is so long.


I have investigated but cannot find any solution to this.

How can I improve the validation time?

Azure Cost Management connector - scheduled refresh not working

Hi All,

 

I've recently swtiched over from the Azure Consumption Insights connector to the newer Azure Cost Management connector.

 

The data in the new connector looks great, and I can successfully refresh when using Power BI desktop. However I'm getting the following error when publishing on https://app.powerbi.com/:

The query for each of those data sources starts with something like this:

Any ideas how to get this working?

Python personal gateway credentials, A problem occurred while processing your Python script.

I was trying to schedule the refresh of power bi report, but got an error concerning invalid credentials 
(Your data source can't be refreshed because the credentials are invalid. Please update your credentials and try again.). 

 

The power bi report can run normallu on my pbi desktop. The other data sources connect fine through the personal gateway. When I click on 'Edit Credentials' for Python, I get the following specifics:

Failed to update data source credentials: ADO.NET: A problem occurred while processing your Python script. Here are the technical details: Access is denied.

Published Embedded Report and Requesting Access

Hi all,

 

We have recently purchased PowerBI Embedded and are now looking to publish reports to internal users.

 

Our first attempt has been to publish a report on our local intranet. We are having mixed results with some able to see the report after they sign into PowerBI. However some users are being prompted with Request Access.

 

How do we allow ALL users within the organisation access to this report?

Alert when data changes

Hello,

 

I was given a task to make Power BI send an email (alert) when something changes in the data. 

For example, I have a SharePoint folder with 3 excel files. In one of them there was a change (there was added new row or deleted row or edited row). Is it possible for Power BI send an email when it refreshes dataset and such things happen?

Updated record behavior in data flow incremental refresh

Hi Team,

 

I have a doubt on Power bi Dataflow incremental refresh, If we enable the incremental refresh on dataflow how it will handle the updated records i.e. if suppose I have one employee and his designation has software engineer and after some days he got promoted to senior software engineer, now dataflow will delete the existing record and insert the new record or updated the existing employee record with updated designation ?

 

Why I have got the doubt  here  we do not have any primary key concept and having only dates filed, so that how dataflow will understand the records is either updated record or inserted record ?

Dear friends , I am new to power bi and I have published a app   named as app1 in my organization .

My doubt is I don't see a new app option in my workspace , I mean I want to make a new app named as app 2 which will be shared to different people .

As now I only see update app option.

Read csv from network location in service

Hi,

 

Have a power bi desktop report which reads .csv files from a shared network drive.

 

I want to read these files using the service in order to automate.

 

A couple of questions can the service also read these shared network files if the gateway machine has the ability to see these shared files?

 

Is there a better way of accomplishing this longer term - not sure of one drive has been rolled out to everyone yet in our organization.

Ive been asked to help with an issue with an error (Unfortunatly they wont let me have actual access to the Power BI App Workspace which makes things incredibly difficult

This happens to their List table which is in Excel and because its on premise they use an Enterprise Data Gateway

they have identified where it errors in service

 

  #"Appended Query" = Table.Combine({#"Replaced Value", #"NewList"}),
 
So NewList is a table in Azure so doesnt need the Enterprise Gateway because its in the Cloud
 
So apparently if you take this out. Its all fine. Add it back in and you get the above error
 
Im struggling a bit because of not having access to the App Workspace. What can I do to try and resolve this for them?

Substitute NULL values on 0 in Matrix visulisalization

Hi all! 

I have to make a Matrix Duration Exposure. I've made bins for Duration creating Custom Column. The values of a matrix are average  Duration values in % that fit each bin. I need to substitute blank "cells" of a Matrix on 0.

 

I already tried to make Py visualization but with no success. Made the desired result in Jupiter Notebook, but it can't be loaded as visualization since it is a table

 

Any ideas on how to do it?
