Context: I use Azure SQL direct query with PowerBI.
1. I publish a report (from my powerBI desktop)
2. I pin my report to a dashboard
3. I share the dashboard with people in my organization
Is the following correct?
To view my dashboard the people with who I share this dashboard must have a power bi pro licence right?

I'm completely new to Power BI and the On-premises Data Gateway but have recently installed it to get to know the product.
The installation was successful and from within Power BI (web app - pressed the cog - manage gateways) I was able to see and configure the gateway. I also added a data source under the gateway to my SQL server and this shows as "Connection Successful." All good so far.
What I think I've failed to understand is what I do next. I thought there would be a mechanism to connect to the SQL data source in Power BI (web app) but in "Databases & More" the only options are Azure SQL DB, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, SSAS and Spark. If I select SSAS and press connect it shows "No resources found."
So what I'm trying to figure out now is whether something is not working or, more likely, I'm simply using the product wrong. I've searched the forums and seen similar questions asked but they seem to skip over the part I'm missing.

I have a content pack shared in the org. My colleague has created a copy of my report and amended it .
Now he should share it back w/ us but he cannot share the report via the content pack .
Any ideas please ?

I’m not sure if this is a unique situation or if others have found a solution to our problem. We are a financial services company and our customer’s data is located on premises in SQL server. We are using Data Gateway to refresh data on Power BI. We have Groups setup for each client and everything works for everybody in our organization. We would like to share the reports in these groups with the related client that is not in our organization. We cannot add external users to a group and we cannot share the enterprise gateway across different organizations.
I would like to know if anyone has a similar situation or suggestions for an elegant solution. At the moment we have to create a user account inside our organization for each client account and the related email account is not the clients real email account. If I share one of our dashboards to an external user, I get a “Something went wrong!” error if I follow the email with the link to the shared dashboard.

For API, I'm practically just changing my Workspace ID and Access Key.
Workspace and sample report(.pbix) has been created and uploaded using CLI from https://github.com/Microsoft/PowerBI-Cli.
However, I'm getting a 403 response when trying to load the embedded report. The PowerBI widget shows fine, just the report that failed to load and showing 403 when calling https://wabi-south-east-asia-redirect.analysis.windows.net/powerbi/metadata/models/674839/?modelOptions=Default&packageId=790157.

The focus mode is not showing up on dashboard tiles that I shared with an external user. Clicking the tile does take the user to the report but when they hit back it takes them back to the top of the dashbard versus to where the tile was located in the dashboard. Focus mode is much better because it takes the user back to the place in the dashboard. I also noticed that the user can download the data which seems odd because I assumed read only did not include access tothe underlying data. Can someone let me know if there is a way to expose the Focus Mode on dashboards shared outside my organization
Yahoo.com is blocked as a potential recipient. We need to open that up, so that we can share data with users external to microsoft.
I have two tables with conditional formatting, which have been working fine and rendering in the Service fine. Today I did a refresh and the tables still show fine and accurate in Desktop, but they are just blank visiuals with nothing in the online dashboard, as well as in the online Report. If I Edit Report online and switch the visual to a matrix, then all of the data shows up. No issues with any other visuals, just the tables that hold conditional formatting. I made no changes to the report other than refreshing. It seems this is a bug, or any ideas? Thanks
I have a report that uses a DirectQuery connection to an on-premises SQL Server via Enterprise Gateway. It was working fine throughout the development cycle but after making a few adjustments and re-publishing, the report starting throwing an error "Couldn't load the data for this visual" in the service. Undoing the changes didn't fix the error. The tab in question contains a Table viz and that table contains 21 fields. I found that removing some of the fields resolved the error, but through experimentation I found that it was not any one specific field causing the problem. So I tried rebuilding the table from scratch and publishing after each additional column was added and got it to work with all columns again. Then I started applying formatting changes and found that when I changed the summarization for a percentage column from 'Sum' to 'Don't Summarize' it was triggering the error. Here is the syntax:
Hi, I have display problems when I present my solution in Power BI service on 24' or 15' screen. On 24' is everything OK - all the visuals are shown in a right way. When I use 15' screen then all the visuals are shrinked - slicers do not show the right number of rows as on 24' screen, another filters are trimmed (on 24' screen they are not), tables have sliders (on 24' they do not have) and so on....
Does anybody know how to correct it? Do you also have this display problems?

When I try to follow your article about using PubNub as a streamed data input for Power BI dashbaord (here), I get an error message from Power BI stating the PubNub streamed dataset can not be created. I've spent a bit of time looking on the forums and can find similar threads but none that solve my issue.
We've installed On-Premises Gateway on our Windows 2008 R2 server in an attempt to switch from personal. The gateway is installed, active and recognised in Power BI Service.
The problem comes when I try to add a data source to our MySQL databse, I get the following error:
Althought the error appears obvious I don't really understand what is not installed or being recognised, because:
The fact that these both work on the server which the gateway is held suggests to me that is should work via the service, correct?
Can anyone identify what the cause may be or how I can further troubleshoot it. I have Gateway logs available if necessary but thought I'd keep them out for now to simplify things.
We have this version of the connector installed (http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mirror.php?id=412152) but have also tried the latest version, the version above was recommended as a way of fixing the error but did not help.

Therefore, it's seems to be some limitation. As client don't want to see some data that look small and stack. So, I want to make a trend data which show last 60 second until current with interval of a seconds
Yes, I mean something like this. So client can see clearly the value of data within some xx interval (hourly, 60 seconds, daily, etc).
I'm not doing the desktop as it's coming live from Stream Analytics. Is Power Bi web have this kind of features?

There is a very strange effect of pressing F5 to refresh a report page - the "..." icon of the visuals disappears and one cannot export data.
Has anybody seen this effect and has someone registered a case for this?

Hoping someone can help. We have two SharePoint site collections. In both, I have added a script webpart and added the iframe embed code we get on powerbi.com to add a graph embed to the sites.
In site A, this works fine. However, in site B then I get this:
Before this error comes up, I do see the 'Chart Loading' screen for a few seconds. I'm not sure why it works on one site but not the other. HTML Field Security for Frames is switched off on both sites.
If I use the IE F12 to see if there are any possible clues, I can see that IE is attempting to resolve http://13.0.1605.561/ when it should be resolving https://app.powerbi.com/13.0.1605.561/
Has anyone had and overcome this issue?
