I love publishing Excel Power Pivot documents to PBIS.

However, a couple of my Workspaces do not appear in the dropdown.

Excel> File> Publish 

Select where you'd like to publish to in Power BI:

[Workspace 1

Workspace 3

Workspace 4]

I can't figure out why some workspaces do not show. The list that shows includes published apps.

help please. I cannot download the desktop version so use the browser version. I am trying to create a dashboad with one of the charts a line chart from an excel spreadsheet of £s over certain periods. In the spreadsheet the periods are month end dates date/month/year eg 31 Jan 2017. When i select the periods for the x axis they appear as month/date/year and the October period appears after the January period. The dates also carry a time format 12.00.00 AM.

How do I reformat the dates to be date/moth/year and be recognised as dates.

I am trying to use the audit logs of the PBI from O365. 

I am trying to get a simple question from the data, Is the user came from mobile Or Web?(Only "View Report \ Dashboard" activities. 

And I am struggling a little bit with that. 

I am using the UserAgent column that represents the browser that the user came from.

This is the results I get (after parsing the JSON after downloading the csv.  ):

How can I know and be sure that the user came from mobile? 

Is there any other way ? 

Please assist I am free to hear new ideas.

I need to persist data from MS exchange to 5 years while currently, only 2 years data is being saved on the server.

This means I need to save all meta data pertaining to the reports in a DBMS system like SQL or in excel.

However, my question here is

1. Can I use R to export data from Power BI Service to SQL DB?

2. Which packages would be required to write to SQL DB?

I intend to refresh dataset everyday and on success, I want today's data to be exported from Power BI service to SQL DB.

If I have one tile on the report which shows only today's data/ modify dataset to contain only today's data, is it possible to export data whenever model is refreshed?

3. I m confortable creating a Windows Service/ SSIS Package to pull the data everyday.

Is it simpler to work with R Scripts? Is it even feasible?

4. Is it possible to use Power Update for scheduling daily refresh?

I need more information pertaining to its capabilities and costs.

Any help in thsi regard would be very much appreciated. 

What would be the recommended approach?

I have implemented RLS for the Organization hierarchy in the desktop version using the following DAX:

||[Org Level 2] = "USERPRINCIPALNAME()"

||[Org Level 1] = "USERPRINCIPALNAME()"

Using "Test as roles" i tested it and it works fine. But it doesn't work in the app/web.

For example, the Manager is able to view his subordinates in the desktop version, but the cloud version shows blank values despite adding his id to the role created.

Any help is highly appreciated!

I have a Slicer named "Account". In which the below drop down list is as follows

1. Expenses

2. P&L

3. IMPL

4. PGL

5. B/S

6. C/F.

Doubt is when I select the 1.Expenses then the Dynamic text (Card) shall represent "Labour", and when I go for 2. P&L then the same Card shall represent as "Revenue". Likewise;

3. IMPl for "Revenue 1", 4. PGL for "Revenue 2", 5. B/s for "Cash", 6. C/F for "Invoicing".

Could some one help me out in writing the DAX for above.

Does Power BI offer a way to share reports with external clients? I have built a report that I would like to share with someone outside my organization but I'm not sure the best way to do this. I know you can download an embed code to embed within a website/portal, but this publicizes it to the world and the data we are sharing contains customer sensitive information. Is there another option to be able to grant viewership to our external client without it being made public to the world? Thank you!

I'm beginning with Powerbi and published my first app.

My account is pro trial. After published the app I sended an invite to a test customer (  with an e-mail from outside my company ) . This customer then created a new account with the e-mail that I used, installed powerbi but he can't see the app that I have shared with him. He can access only the demo apps installed with the default Powerbi app.

Any toughts ?

I have created a report and published it to the service, after that I have used the 'publish to web' option and generated a link.

Now I have updated my PBI Desktop file and published to the service again which is updated now, but the 'publish to web' link still shows my old report and has not updated it.

What can I do to get the report updated on the 'publish to web' link ASAP.

I have a report that using hierarchy slicer for the filter, and when I'm applying the filter using this slicer and other slicer (slicer and smart slicer by OKViz) and try to export into ppt, the hierarchy slicer is not work, but the other slicer works.

Example:

I put filter by region (this using hierarchy slicer), and put the type (using usual slicer from PBI), then when I export it's only Filtered by type and the hierarchy slicer appear like this, and also all the filter that I already use in hierarchy slicer is gone and the report not filtered.

Please help. Or maybe anyone can suggest me using another slicer that can be hierarchical?

We have publised a number of reports which use Direct Query (to SQL server) on a premium capacity. In the last couple of weeks there have been several occasions where all these report fail to load - All visualizations in the report fail to load with the message either "Unable to load data model" or "Database operation was cancelled due to a previous error".

The problem corrects itself after a couple of hours.

The On-Prem Data Gateway logs the following exception during this time.

We have publised a number of reports which use Direct Query (to SQL server) on a premium capacity. In the last couple of weeks there have been several occasions where all these report fail to load - All visualizations in the report fail to load with the message either "Unable to load data model" or "Database operation was cancelled due to a previous error".

The problem corrects itself after a couple of hours.

The On-Prem Data Gateway logs the following exception during this time. 

Any idea what could be wrong?
