After updating the report to Power BI APP one user is not able to see the reports change

Hi,

 

I have updated one of the Power BI report and published to the service. Updated this report to the assigned APPS as well.

All users can see the changes done to the report in the APPS except one user he can't see the report changes. Filter's used in the report shows wrong data for that user inside the APPS. When the same report is opened from the workspace same user can see the new changes and the filters provide correct data. This issue is happening with only one user. Rest of the users are good. As a workaround deleted the Organisation APP and reisntalled and tried. Still the issue remains the same that particualr user.

 

Anyone can provide support on this issue.

Power BI Service does not refresh data properly

Hi, 

 

When I refresh the data on Power BI Desktop (Import mode), everything works fine. However, the daily refresh on the Service does not produce the correct numbers, even though the refresh history shows everything is fine and no errors. As such, I have to manually publish the report every day.

Any idea how to fix this? Could this be a 'preview' issue?

Power BI Paginated Report Subreport too many rows fetched

I have a Power BI Paginated Report that has a subreport.  The Subreport has a single parameter.  The data source for the subreport has about 100,000 records but for a given row on the master report there are typically 1 to sometimes 3-4 records.  When I limit the master report to a single line item via a parameter, the service fetches that one item and then it appears to fetch the 100,000 records for the subreport even though it will only render the handful of records in the subreport where the parameters match.

If I select the master report with 5 items, the service fetches the 5 items and then fetches 500,000 records before rendering the handful of records.

The master report has roughly 20,000 items so when I try to render the full report, it continues to fetch into the 10's of millions of records.
Is there a design approach that will avoid this cartesian product approach other than limiting the report?  This is a master data quality report and it would be helpful not to have to produce the information one master record at a time.  SSRS used to cut through this use case with parameter driven stored procedures with no problem and never generated the cartesian product effect.

Personal on premises gateway not working for new semantic models.

I have been working for years with a MySQL data base and Power BI. Both run on a server in EC2 from Amazon.

This is my workflow:

  1. Open Power Bi Desktop
  2. Get data from MySQL, using localhost and my user/pass
  3. Create the report and publish to the service.
  4. Edit semantic model setting, choosing the data gateway, and scheduling refreshes daily
  5. Done, this has been working for years.

Now, I have to create new reports, and I follow the exact same workflow, but I get stuck after publishing:

  1. Open Power Bi Desktop
  2. Get data from MySQL, using localhost and my user/pass
  3. Create the report and publish to the service.
  4. Gateway not showing at all in the semantic model settings, can´t refresh data, life ruined.

Is not a connection or configuration error, because all old reports keep refreshing daily without a problem, only the new ones I want to create are getting these troubles.
I have updates both Power Bi desktop, and Personal on Premises Gateway.

 

Is there anything I´m doing wrong? How can I solve this? Many thanks in advance

Power BI Report not located within Semantic model in Power BI service

Hi all

Good morning.

 

When I open the semantic model in Power BI service, the report is not located within it, even though the model is created from the report.

 

Rather it seems I need create a new report.

 

Can someone explain this

One of many similar Dataflows does not work.

I have 15 dataflows (on the Power Bi Premium Servcie) that I use to get large amounts of data through an API.   13 of them work fine.  They are all exactly written the same, except of course the "source".  So all the steps in them are just copies.

The two that do not work, I get this error when I refresh:

"Expression.Error: We cannot convert the value null to type Record."

 

When I look in the preview, there seem to be no error.

I have copied the queries to Power Bi desktop, and they run perfectly.

 

What am I missing?

Por favor necesito ayuda con este problema.

 

Hace unas semanas incorporé una API de Mongo DB a PBI Desktop, utilicé este código con una consulta en blanco con el editor avanzado de power query:

El problema se me presenta cuando quiero actualizar los datos en power bi service, en el PBI desktop funciona bien, pero no así en el PBI Service, arroja este mensaje cuando estoy configurando las credenciales de origen de datos:

Automate Report Schedule Sends

I am looking for an option to be able to create schedule sends, similar to how BOBJ WebI & Crystal reports work.

 

I have created a few reports that include inventory data, that need to be sent to suppliers daily. The schedule send out would have to include the capability of exporting the tables within my reports to excel and applying filters to the schedule send.

 

Example: I have published a report to the service. Now business users would need to schedule these reports to send to suppliers. Most of the time, they would need to filter for only inventory levels from yesterday and need to scecify the location in the schedule send to filter the report.

 

Does anyone have any guidance on how I can achieve this?

Data Disappears

Hi All,

 

I have had this recurring issue with data completely disappearing and ruining all my visualisations and losing all my measures randomly. This has happened on three occasions across two dashboard and two workspaces in the space of a few months. Extermely irritating as I have to rebuild this entire dashboard which is a lengthy task. I can reimport the data fine from SQL Server - but have to point the columns and create created columns and measures from scratch, as well as table transformations. 

 

Each occurrence doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason - first two times I don't have any inkling as to what caused it. This time around, refreshed the data which completed with no apparent issues. Went into transform and changed a step that removed bottom rows, to remove less rows. Then Loaded and applied. No apparent issues. Hit save and didn't give me any prompt. Published and gave me "The Server Object is Not Connected" prompt I believe. Same issue when I tried to save. Closed and reopened to this monstrosity below.

Please any help or ideas on saving backups etc would be appreciated.

Power BI Service - "This Page isn't responding" - Error in Edge Browser

Hi All,

 

We've been noticing performance Issue in one of our report. We getting an message in Edge Browser as "This Page isn't responding".

But same report was working fine in the Google Crome.

I already tried the option such as clear cache. Still facing the Same Issue.

One of our statck holder, can only use Edge Browser. 

Can anyone have faced this issue recently and got any solution, please update us on this.

Combining multiple column values ( multiple rows) into single column values (single row) for SPECIFIC values only. 

I have developed a line chart with multiple fruit category (for example). The current table looks like this.

but as per business new requirement, we need to combine/group  fruit into certain categories. So that when they click the filter link the line chart the values shows the combination of different values. Something like below.

It doesnt matter if we can do it in the table or even in dax.. but user should be able to select Fruit2 Filter in the front end and the value should show as per the value2 above.

Migrating personal workspaces to premium capacity?

Hello,

 

we are currently setting up our new premium capacity and moving all workspaces to this capacity.

We want to benefit from the fact that free users will only consume reports (70-80% of all users) and Pro-Users will create content (20-30% of all users).

 

But what should be done now with all the personal workspaces that we have. What will happen if those workspaces remain in shared capacity while all other workspaces are in Premium ?

 

From my point of view, inside of personal workspaces they cannot get use of any Premium feature, but besides that is there any best practice how to deal with personal workspaces?

Streaming dataset is not loading in embedded application

Hello all,

 

Scenario 1: I have a report tile which is connected to Streaming dataset. Report is woking well within the Power BI service but in the embedded application it throws below error. Could anyone throw some clarity on why this is not working?

Scenario 2: Also, I have some other tiles which is connected to PostgreSQL in direct query mode. Data for this also not coming up in the embedded application and showing the above error. But when I open the Power BI report in powerbi service I could see the report tiles without any error.

Azure CosmosDB v2 Connector: data is showing error or no columns

I'm trying to load data from our Azure CosmosDB container but whenever I try to view a table column or try to expand it, it results in an error or is not loading any columns or doesn't load at all:

Which is odd considering there should be data in there in this format:

Is there any way I can diagnose this or find the cause of the problem? I am able to pull the data using SQL but we were advised to use the Azure Cosmos DB v2 connector due to recent changes in the company.

Paginated Reports Date parameter value not showing

It looks like Microsoft released some update to Power BI Services over the weekend and now the date parameter value is not shown (even if you select another date yourself) Thought it might be Chrome related, but it's showing the same in Edge.

It's only an issue on the Power BI services hosted in North Central US (Illinois). For some reason our Power BI services hosted in Australia East (New South Wales) is fine, I guess the update was not rolled out to all Services yet.....

J'ai une licence Power BI Pro. J'ai, par erreur, supprimé ma passerelle personnel qui fonctionnait. Depuis j'ai réinstallé une passerelle mais elle ne fonctionne pas. J'obtiens le message ci-dessous. J'ai supprimé, réinstallé etc. sans succès. Il y a un problème de signature? Que dois je faire SVP. C'est plutôt urgent, devant travailler avec des collègues demain! :

What happens to EM licenses now with Fabric

In the attached image we see that minor F64 licenses require PRO licenses per user to consume Power BI content.Does this mean that those users without a PRO license, within an EM1 capacity, who were consuming reports through Sharepoint or Themes will no longer be able to do so? Just as the P SKUs will cease to exist and customers with this contracted capacity will find their equivalent in the F SKUs greater than 64, what happens with the A and EM licenses?Will they also cease to exist?Are they strictly equivalent to their corresponding one in the table?Will customers be able to make use of Fabric's capabilities?

How to delete Semantic models?

I am a bit confused.. On PowerBI service, I created a semantic model from an excel file by a manual upload, now this option is gone.

I created another one with a manual copy-paste, now I cannot delete any of the two semantic models.

 

How do I simply delete a semantic model??

Multiple logins every time I access a report through a button

I have two reports The first one has a button to a second report. The two reports are in different files in Power Bi services, but in the same work area, and of course in the same tennant.  When I access the first one, Power BI asks for login as expected, but when I click on the button and open another report, power bi asks for a login again. ¿Is there a way to avoid the second login? Becuase is suposed I´m already loged in. Actually the company has SSO implemented.
