I was just reading this article on Microsoft Teams new feature in the pipeline - Sharing Channels to external users (User does not have to switch Tennant)
https://myteamsday.com/2021/06/01/shared-channels
Given the ability to share a channel to an external user, is there anything to prevent us from adding a power bi app into a tab on that channel and thus allowing external users to see the reports?
Currently I use the "app owns data/embedded" setup with a external website (time-consuming but works well).
Having externals authenticated from their own tenancy and invited into a Channel might I think open up a huge time-saver.
interested if anyone knows if my thoughts are on track or not?
Cheers!

Hi,
Is it possible, with either a Power BI Pro or Power BI Premium individual license to be able to share Power BI Reports with a customer even though they do not have Power BI themselves?
Thanks.
Charlie
Unfortunately, we'll have to drop all our dataflows, they cannot be trusted any more.
We've built tenths of dataflows, over SQLDW data source, with 5-6 daily refreshes.
We could live with an occasional refresh failure here and there, but the rate is no longer accepted.
They keep failing with errors like: Internal Service Error, We encountered an error please retry etc.
There are no issues with the datasource, no errors there, no timeouts, nothing.
Pity, DataFlows was a great idea but so poorly implemented.
Got to move on.
Dear community members,
I have created a dashboard, which contains two simple bar charts. Within the original BI report the colour of the bars is blue. When I start to adjust the dashboard theme, the colour of the bars is spontaneously changing to green. Is it possible to keep the colour of the bars fixed to the original colour of blue?
Thanks for any thiought on this.
Kind regards
Hello Everyone,
I would be glad if you could help me with the following issue :
I have two tables for which I built two Dax measures :
Table 1 :
[Date] [Robot] [Total]
01/01/2021 IDN 300
01/01/2021 ABD 400
01/01/2021 R3D 500
01/02/2021 F3D 600
My first Dax measure is the total calculated
Table 2 :
[Date] [Robot] [Total]
01/01/2021 BOP 1 300
01/02/2021 BOP 2 400
01/03/2021 BOP 3 500
My second Dax measure is the total calculated
I would then like to consolidate both calcul to add up 1st DAX measure and 2nd DAX measure and calcul it depending on the month (not the day due to cardinality). How can I do it ? should I consider building a third table and merge table 1 and 2 data ?
Hi All,
I've been encountirng a strange refresh issue in Service.
The report refreshes successfully in PBI Desktop but the same report when uploaded has failed to refresh 100% of the time.
See error message below.
After downloading the PBIX file to verify the issue the 'There are pending change in your queries that havne't been applied'. message is prompted. Even though this report has literally just been uploaded with all changes applied.
After applying changes, refreshing in Desktop then re-uploading the process starts again.
No idea how to proceed.
Any suggestions?
We can use the REST API to retrieve the status of a cluster. However I want to retrieve the status of individual machines so I can take action before all machines in the cluster are offline. I know it is visible in the Power Platform admin center:
Power Platform admin center (microsoft.com)
But it there a REST API or (PowerShell) script to retrieve the status of individual gateways? I don't want to refresh the admin center each couple of minutes 😉
Retrieving all gateway (clusters)
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/power-bi/gateways/getgateways
Retrieving statis of an specific gateway (cluster)
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/power-bi/gateways/getgateway
On location "A" I have a cluster of multiple gateways that are distributing the events evenly, but now I also want a failover gateway that is on a physical different location ("B") and takes over all the load in case of an outage of location "A". However I can only set the failover/distribute events on the cluster itself and nog on individual machines.
Is there an solution for this?
Is there a way to disable one of the individual gateways via a REST API or (PowerShell) scripting? The Power Platform admin center has an option for it, but I can't find it in the REST API documentation.

Hello everyone,
So I have multiple dashboards published on my workspace. I wanted to create a high level view or a summary of all the dashboards into one. One way I can see is by exporting the results of all the dashboard manually.
Would there be another way of exporting the data Automatically either in PBI Desktop or PBI Service? Any workaround you can suggest?
Thank you!
Hi,
I was wondering if it is possible to share apps with the Premium PPU licence with non licenced users in your organisation?
Or does everybody need to have pro/PPU to read your apps/reports?
Many thanks,
Nils
I have published a Report to Power BI web. The report Parameter Datetime Picker format is always MM/dd/yyyy , which I need to it to be dd/MM/yyyy.
I have changed Power BI web setting as Language = Default Browser language. I also changed my Firefox / Chrome language to English (UK) , but it did not change the Report Parameter Datetime Picker format.
Anyone has any idea how to fix this?
Thanks.

Good day,
I just encountered an issue with Users saving their own personal bookmarks. I checked on here and online to see if anyone else has had the same issue and did not find anything.
When a User created a Personal Bookmark (months ago). I added a new column into a table in my report. Whenever they use the personal bookmark it removes any additions i've made to a table. When they hit reset to default the column comes back and all filtering is removed. The workaround i gave them was to delete their personal bookmark and create a new one, which has worked. But i don't think this is a good permanent solution.
Is there another solution I can offer my Users that doesn't require this much extra work? I did try the "Update" button in the elypsis, but that did nothing.
thank you,
Mark
Hi,
I have been givene a report link where it has 3 pages and a page filter is also added here as shown below. I do not want my page "Newsroom level" to have this filter.
The other 2 pages can have this filter but not the first page. Can I remove this filter or make it not effected.
Please help.
Thanks In Advance,
Neelofar shama.
Is it possible to use composite modeling when you host your tabular model on-premise and query it using tbe powerbi gateway?
I have a Power BI pro license and I have developed some reports from 5 small tables in Smartsheets (biggest table is about 15 columns x 300 rows. Mostly a mix of text & dates). The .PBIX file is about 1.5 Mb
No errors from any of the 5 tables when I refresh/load them in Power BI Desktop, with very minimual transformation steps (removing blanks/bad dates etc.)
I published the report to "My Workspace" in Power BI Service
I also published the exact same report at the same time to a premium capacity workspace that was made available to me (Diamond after name).
The scheduled (and on demand) refreshes on the My Workspaces version of the report started randomly failing this morning and had previously being working without any hiccups.
The same scheduled refreshes on the same report in Premium Capacity workspace are working fine.
The error is:
"There was an error when processing the data in the dataset. There's not enough memory to complete this operation. Please try again later when there may be more memory available."
I downloaded a .PBIX version of the report from my workspace to see if I could reverse engineer any additional errors in Power BI desktop, but there arent issues when I refresh the tables in the desktop.
Are there are specific "My Workspace" restrictions that I should be aware of?
Are there any other debug steps or ideas that I could take to further isolate the issue?
Thanks,
Gerard
Hello,
One specific user in my organization sees different colors in the visuals pinned in a Dashboard from a published App. Has anyone faced a similar problem?
Thank you in advance,
Hello,
How do I delete a source showing in my linage to a data flow?
Thanks,
Gordon
Hello Community - Ultimately, I am just trying to understand if there is any security risk here or not.
For those that have tried experimenting with creating a good App navigation setup for your users, you will have noticed that just using the link to a report from another workspace will work...but...it will take the user out of the current App they are in. This results in a not so nice navigation experience because.
I like using the secure embed code method better, but it keeps the user inside the App they are working in. However, I have noticed that using this method, you end up with this annoying icon in the top left of the report (the one you embedded into the App). This could certainly be annoying for users and it may also give them the sense that somehow the report is not secure.
1. Is the report secure?
2. Anyway to get rid of this?
