Hi folks,

 

I have a report that never ends to update, something went wrong and I can't stop the update manually. 

 

What should I do to stop the update? I don't have access to the server, only IT Team.

Hi,

I am completely new to Microsoft Power BI. I have worked SAP Business Objects and now moving to Microsoft Power BI.

 

What is similar concept of  SAP BO "Universe" in Power BI.  The same "Universe" can be used in all reports. 

 

"Universe" :  The semantic layer contains metadata about the table columns and their relationships within the underlying database.

 

We planned to implement on-premise(Report Server)

I am calling "https://api.powerbi.com/v1.0/myorg/groups/{0}/reports/{1}/ExportTo" Api in my mvc application.

Here i was getting access token like this,

after this I got the error

then I write a code to get embed token by passing access level and identities i used at power bi desktop to use RLS like this,

Now I got the 403 forbidden error with no text.

Can anyone please help me to understand this why it is giving 403 error.

I've created a model in Azure Analysis Services with an measure

 

 

Negative values are presented like 


I want the minus and the symbol on front of the value like the positive values. [Symbo][minus][value]

Positive values work fine

Hi,

 

When you click on 'Settings', 'Create Content Pack' you have an option to input organisational email addresses and the GUI automatically loads all emails matching your inputted characters.

 

I have a request to hide these email addresses from the users, or at least show only the email addresses within the same group as the logged in user while hiding all other email addresses within the company.

 

So far I tried to hide 'Create content pack', but the option given in the admin portal is to restrict distributing the content pack to the to the entire organisation. I also did not find any options to disable communication between user groups.

 

Is such a restriction possible?

Hello,

 

I'm testing direct query vs import, I have a separate .pbix file for each.

Last week, my direct query was doing a scheduled cache refresh every 15 min and my import was set up to import every couple hours, no issues.

 

Today I log in and now my direct query wants to do a scheduled refresh, not a scheduled cache refresh. I created a new file, configured it as direct query, saved it under a different name and published it, and it still wants to do a scheduled refresh, instead of cache.

 

The only thing i can think of, is that the native custom query i have added is flipping it to an import somehow, but it didn't do that last week.

 

Custom native query underneath Import vs. DirectQuery selection:

 

SELECT [timestamp]
,[newDATETIME]
,[tagname]
,CAST([value] as float) as [value]
FROM [TurbineValues]

Have the problem passing a filter to embed url.

Here is the one I want my report page to be filtered by:

 

 

&$filter=’Main Table’/’Sales Level’ eq 'AMERICA'

 

 

When appending to the embedded url...

...tha page is opened but the filter is not applied. 

Am I doing sth wrong? Is it work as standalone url or in the iframe only?

In the Desktop version the Conditional formatting on the background of the graphs are still visible, however this is not shown in the Power BI services anylonger. We have prove it worked, but now it has dissappeared. Does anybody knows what happened?

Hi, 

We have a VM running SQL Server located in Europe West. On that server we have installed a OnPrem Datagateway in order to let a cube within Azure Analysis Services (Europe west) to be processed. 

 

Now I want to use the same gateway to connect directly to the SQL Server from the Power BI Service. How ever the Azure AD tenant is located in Europe North, which means that Power BI is located in Europe North, and because of that I cannot see my gateway within Power BI. 

 

Is there any workaround for this, having a onprem GW in a different region compared to the Power BI Service?

Just wondering if there are certain things you need to do when adding Users into an Azure SQL Database

 

We have a Read Only user which connects in Desktop, but errors in the data set in Service  Tenant identifiers may not be an empty GUID.

 

When you create Users in SQL Server Management Studio are there certain things you need to do in order to make them work in Service?

actuall in my new Project i work with Power BI Embedded and specially for dataset database sql server works well and without issues.

But when i try to refresh my dashboard which have incluse analysis services cube at backend i geht this Error Message ( System error ? ) ( x symbole -> removed things ) :

Dear Community,

 

I have been using PBI Premium at the company where I am working (a small one). It was working perfectly until today. (I still have ~20 trial days left).

 

Now, I am getting the following message after a scheduled update:

The only related post I found was this one https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Service/Analyze-in-Excel-Error-MaxPacketLimitReached/td-p/778149 - that taught about how to optimize my file. But my file was already updating, so the size of the file is not the issue.

 

I wonder if it is because the "data" available for my trial is already over. Or maybe it is related to the personal gateway I setup by myself that is been used to keep the data updated. Can anyone help me with this?

Hi guys, 

 

I am trying to share my report to free users in PowerBI. Right now the report is in an workspace in premium capacity.

But after I sent the email and granted access to free users (choose "Send an email notification to recipients" only). They got message ("This content is only available to users with a Power BI Pro license.") that they still need to upgrade their account to pro licence to access it.

I think I could share content in premium capacity with free users.

Any solutions for this?

Hi,

 

I have some tables that need to be refreshed daily (from our sales software), and some that need updating monthly (direct from our accounts system but only when the month-end accounts have been signed off). Please can you tell me the best way of doing that with Power BI? My understanding is that the entire dataset has to be updated at the same time when scheduling an automated refresh?

Hi,

 

I am experiencing NO trigger when clicking on "App" ==> click on my prem. workspace and it goes nowhere.

I get by this via workaround that I have to always navigate away from the "App" by going into Prem. workspace where "App" is published and I need to click back to "App", withthis, it allows the load to happen.

 

Any quick fix to this?

Hello,

 

When my reports get emailed out they can be seen either in the app (for those with the paid license), or in paint. 

 

Is there any way to have it sent as a PowerPoint or a PDF? Others in my organization aren't a fan of it getting sent to them in paint.
