White margins exporting PPTX in PowerBI Service

$

Hi! I was testing some features in PowerBI Service and i can't figure out how to remove white margins while exporting PPTX. I tried adjusting page, closing and minimizing filtering and page navigation. Also tried to do it exporting .pdf in both Service and Desktop (way bigger margins) versions. I wanna ask if at least someone found a workaround, because i know it's a known issue and looks like sometimes it's fixed and sometimes is not.

Semantic Models

When I edit a remote semantic model, it removes direct query connections when it is published. Is there a way to connect a desktop report to a remote semantic model with existing direct query connections, edit its transforms/imports etc... and publish the new version while keeping its existing direct query connections?

I have a new subscription created on one of the powerBi reports (table visual), however the attached PDF only has a screenshot and there is no option to scroll the data - Is there an option to get the entire data in the report from powerbi?

Passing Arguments to Notebooks with Magic

$

Hi All,

I'm trying to figure out how to use magic commands to run another notebook with an argument that has a variable as the value. Hopefully the example below explains it better. The idea is to pass a pipeline parameter to the notebook, for example a True/False variable on whether it's being run on dev, and have that also apply to another notebook being ran using magic.

Notebook1

isDev = True

%run Notebook2 {'isDev': isDev}

Notebook2

     print(str(isDev))

When I use a string instead of a variable as the argument value it works. Otherwise I get this error:

MagicUsageError: Cannot parse notebook parameters. More details please visit https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2270136 --> JsonReaderException: Unexpected character encountered while parsing value: i. Path 'isDev', line 1, position 9.

Thanks!

Cannot take over Gen2 dataflow

When attempting to open a Gen2 dataflow owned by someone else, I get the below message:

JoshT_0-1742549859070.png

If I try to access the settings for that dataflow:

I am an admin on the workspace this dataflow is in, and the issue does not happen with Gen1 dataflows. Inconsistent messaging and imo this is a bug.

Identifying unused columns from a semantic model

$

Hello! I need help with this requeriment
In the Power BI service, many published semantic models are used across multiple reports. For example, a single semantic model might be the foundation for 20 different reports. Is there a way to determine, for a given semantic model, which columns are (or are not) being used in all the dependent reports? The goal is to identify unused fields in the model so they can be removed to reduce the dataset size. I'm wondering if there's a general method to achieve this without having to review each report individually??
thanks in advance

Monitor Tab in Service not displaying correct refresh status

$

Hi Forum,

I am trying to identify all semantic models with a refresh status of Failed, and I'm using the Monitor panel from the Service sidebar. As it says at the top of the panel, I understand that only workspaces that I have access to are visible to me, but I want to use this to identify any outstanding failures. However, there appear to be red herrings, i.e. models with status Failed when they actually are refreshing correctly. It looks like some of them are older (but no longer existing) versions of the new models that are refreshing correctly. My question is: are these visible in any other way and can they be removed? It would quite annoying to have to simply ignore them each time the Monitor panel is viewed.

Thanks,
Ali

PBI report (with Scorecard visual) embedded in Sharepoint page doesn't work

Hello,

I've done what i usually do, that is embed in my SP site a link for a PBI report deployed on PBI service (Prod).
This time, and for the 1st time, i'm having an issue that, while the report works in PBI service, it doesn't work my SP page.
I've reprocessed the report with the KPIs, the report with the scorecard, re "choosing" the PBI's page on the SP "PBI area object", and even created a new "PBI area object" and choosed the PBI's page again, without success.

The error is this

Does anyone know how to solve it?

Power BI Semantic Model Refresh - BUG

Hello BI Folks,

I've noticed that when we manually refresh a semantic model before its scheduled time, if the refresh isn't completed before the scheduled time, the system doesn't check for any ongoing activities. Consequently, the same semantic model gets triggered again at its scheduled time, which ideally shouldn't happen.

Does anyone have suggestions or insights on this issue?
