Buenas a todos. En el trabajo tengo más de 10 informes que atacan al mismo servidor de la empresa. Para todos ellos, tengo una actualización diaria inicial, la cual nunca falla. A lo largo de la mañana, tengo distribuidas varias actualizaciones para cada informe, puesto que tienen información viva. Estas actualizaciones a veces fallan, y el error que más aparece es el siguiente:

¿Tenéis más información sobre este error? Entiendo que la conexión al servidor puede dar problema, pues ya se encuentra la empresa trabajando con el mismo servidor. Las actualizaciones en Desktop nunca fallan por este motivo. También, la tabla que aparece en el mensaje de error no siempre es una tabla del servidor, si no de un enlace web externo. Supongo que será algo causado por el servidor ya que alcanza el limite intentando entrar al servidor.

Hello all,

I have a dashboard published in power bi service that is failing refresh due to the following error. 
"SSL Provider, error: 0 - The certificate chain was issued by an authority that is not trusted"

 

Can someone please help how to resolve this.

 

I have tried the following troubleshoots:

In power bi desktop: Option, Data source and settings, Clear permissions, Edit Credentials, Close, Refresh Power BI file and publish.

After publishing, connect the gateway, turn on the refresh. Then Manually turn on the refresh, it fails with the error shown above.

Hi, 

 

I would like to include on my Power BI Online Dashboard two bottons: 

 

1. Export to PDF botton: the final user could click on the botton and then it receives all the showed sheets as each PDF file pages and a complete PDF file format.

 

2. Export to Excel botton: where they could click on and receive "a mirror" of all the showed data in the active sheet and receive an excel file values without format sheet. 

 

I searched on this forum, videos and also online, but I can´t find the solution.

I am writing to request assistance regaining access to my Power BI Service account. Unfortunately, I am unable to log in due to a two-factor authentication (MFA) issue.

 

Here's the situation:

• I mistakenly deleted the Microsoft Authenticator app and its associated profile.
• Now, when I attempt to log in to Power BI Service or Desktop, it requires approval from the deleted authenticator app, which is no longer possible.
• I tried to reconfigure the MFA but was unable to do so as the process also requires approval from the deleted app.

 

My login ID for Power BI Service is: [contact@kashefuddin.com]]

Additional Information:

I considered creating a new account with a different email address (kashef@kashefuddin.com) on my domain. However, when attempting to sign up for Power BI Service with this address, I received an error message stating: "Your organization doesn't currently allow its users to purchase Microsoft Fabric free. Contact your IT admin for more information."  

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone advise me on the best course of action to regain access to my existing account and clarify the limitations associated with creating a new account within my domain.

Paginated report Global UserID show user name

Hello all,

 

I need to show the User Name of the person running the paginated report.

 

I've found the Global User ID but when testing, this shows my company email address due to this being my User ID on the machine I'm using.

How can I show just my name?

 

My UserID is e.g.

First.Last@company.co.uk

 

Is there a way to break up the string so that it shows everything before the @ within the paginated report?

e.g. "First.Last"

 

The paginated report will be run by different people in the company therefore it needs to be coded at the paginated report level rather than a data table from the Power BI report. All users have the same ID format.

Using the ID: filledMap visual in the 2.137.1102.0 64-bit (Oktober 2024) version on PowerBI desktop. The country identified as HU is not highlighted, despite having similar ISO 3166-1 2 letter code entries as hightlighted countries in the base table. The field "Country" is identified as Data category country. There is no blank character after HU and it's the official ISO 3166-1 2-letter code.

Adding the ISO 3-letter code and country name as additional fields in the "location" field does not make a difference.
When I exclusively use the 3-letter code, HUN is filled but BEL and  RUS disappears.

Is there a list of country designations that are guaranteed to be recognized by the filled map visual?
Any ideas??

If anyone knows the solution to share the report to viewer, without viewers requesting PRO lisence.

I am a POWER BI PRO user and I want to share the report to my colleagues only for viewing purpose. However even for viewing the POWER BI PRO version is asked by Microsoft. I even tried to embedd the link in TEAMS (Group) but in that as well the PRO license is required by Microsoft.
How I can do peer to peer sharing? the report creator and sharing person is having PRO license and Viewer is having Free license.

Hi, I would like to use Power BI Service for my individual projects as well as learning purposes. I go here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/products/power-bi/getting-started-with-power-bi and click 'Start free'. I use my Outlook account (individual), however I get response that only work/school one is accepted.

 

The same with Power Apps Developer Plan (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/products/power-apps/free) - I would like to use it for my individual projects as well as learning purposes. I use  personal Outlook email but have the siyuation as above.

 

Is it possible to have access to those services for free? If not how can I use them for my individual projects?

 

PS. I've also tried to get there through MS 365 Developer Program https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/dev-program but also in vain. Maybe there 's any full trail license and I could use personal mail?

Hi All,

 

I’m currently setting up and testing data export permissions with the goal of having complete control over which users can export data and which cannot. My aim is to effectively implement these permissions to prevent unauthorized data exports.

Observations and Testing Results:

According to the documentation, users assigned only the "Viewer" role should not be able to export data. In theory, this role restriction should limit viewers to viewing data only, without the ability to export. To verify this, I conducted some tests with a user assigned the following permissions: The user has only the Viewer role and does not have build permissions on the dataset.

However, I noticed that this user was still able to download/export the data, despite the expected restrictions. This result seems to contradict the documentation, suggesting that I may be overlooking certain permission settings or interactions that are affecting the user’s ability to export. 

 

Settings
- The user has export rights at the tenant level.
- In the report settings, export permissions are enabled, with options for “Summarized data and data with current layout” selected. 

 

Questions:

How can I better manage user roles for export permissions?
What’s the best approach to clearly separate users who should be able to export data from those who shouldn’t?

 

I’m hoping this helps clarify the situation and any overlooked settings, and I would appreciate any insights you can share. Thank you!

Hello All,

I am having an issue in Power BI gateway connection to only SQL Server connections, it seems they appear as OFFLINE on the portal but on the back end the users are able to refresh their dataset, however this is the error I get when trying to fix and get the connection ONLINE: 

 

PBI PROD03 Gateway: A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: SSL Provider, error: 0 - The target principal name is incorrect.

 

I can connect to the SQL database with the same credentials locally via SSMS. This issue just started today and I am not sure of the fix, Please help!!!!

Hi,

 

The set-up

I have two separate reports. It is possible to jump to the corresponding data between the reports using buttons that are present in both reports.

These buttons have url's using a filtered value in the report, as a query string parameter: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-url-filters

 

The problem

Sometimes however, report A does not have the corresponding value in report B. So after clicking the button you land in an empty report.

Now my end-users would like to have an error-message when this happens, but how can I do this, without adding any of the data from the dataset of report A to the dataset of report B?

I cannot add the missing data from report B to the data of report A (not even just the keys, or guids or anything like that).

Hello,

Reports that have been previously refreshing with no issues prior are now receiving an error with no error message- this is across several different dataflows that are only about a million rows which isn't that large.

There are also smaller dataflows that are having the same issue. Does anyone know what this is related to and what the resolution could be?

Hi.

I'm wondering if its possible to have a Edge browser webpage active within a dashboard?

I'm working on a project that is pulling in data from multiple sources, and having all this data in one place is very useful as the different sources enrich each others data, but one source of data is from an already existing platform (accessible via the web) and pulling the data in is not necessary, but i would like to have all the data for this project in one location, i.e. PBI service, so is it possible for the dashboard to house a MS edge webpage within it that is interactive (similar to a normal webpage)?

This question/post relates more to the governance side of things in service.

 

I want to start by saying that I know within each app, you can create distinct "Audiences" with customized/selective view-access to reports and dashboards contained in that app. However I want to have groups that can be reusable across different apps and even testing workspaces.

 

We in the BI and data analytics team do not have full ownership of Power BI. We go as high as "Power BI Admin" in our team. O365 administration is handled by our infrastructure team, which is at times cumbersome when it comes to creating a new AD group that previously did not exist, for a newly deployed app. Not only is there often a delay, sometimes we even face sharp pushback. We really do not prefer adding individual emails for access control and would rather use groups. It would be nice if we were given the ability to create distribution lists in AD as per our needs but I also understand from the other team's point of view that managing and administering them will become difficult as the number of those groups goes up with time. As I understand, even creating O365 groups will require one to be an O365 admin.

 

So has anyone found an in-between solution to this?

Have a customer with an issue sharing a workspace with a guest user.

 

1. Power BI P1 capacity.

 

2. All admin options for external accounts verified working. External Entra ID accounts allowed organization wide and all sharing set to allow except 'browse fabric'.

 

3. Guest user invited through Entra ID portal. Shows up in M365 admin portal as well.

 

4. No license. Should not need due to being P1 Capacity.

 

Customer is trying to share a workspace through 'manage access'.

Add people or groups and the guest user is added as a viewer.

 

When the guest user logs into app.powerbi.com the 'from external org' doesn't always show up and when it does it only shows 'my workspace' and the customer name. 

 

 

The workspace that was granted 'viewer' access does not show up.

 

I've went to about and pulled the portal url with the customer's tenant ID and same issue shows.

 

I'm testing this as admin in Power BI as well as using another account as guest.

 

I'm not a 'power bi' admin; just trying to help this customer out. I have no idea if the workspace is set up correctly; they say they've added guest users to this workspace before.

 

After much research I believe all settings in the BI tenant are correct.

 

Is there a long wait-time for this like similar issues in say Exchange portal/etc?

 

Is there a setting IN the workspace that needs to be set. All internal users can access (verified with an internal account). 

 

Any ideas?

Hi All,

 

Several months ago we signed up for the 'Free' evaluation of Microsoft Fabric.  After deciding we were not interested, we let the trial period expire and went on our merry way of publishing PBI content to the service per usual.  We have company sensitive data contained in a PBI App which requires only a select number of users (audience members) have access to the content. This went along just fine until a user in our office was granted access to the App but was prompted to create a MS Fabric Account for Free:

Why is this happening?  Thank you in advance for anyones help!
