In power Bi service , I am trying to get a line chart with error% trend month on month . However apart from% of grand total , i am unable to find any other options.

As per the below example , Line chart should show :

Overall error % for Apr month for USA is 50% ( 2 error opportunity and 1 error made )

Overall error % for May month for USA is 100% ( 1 error opportunity and 1 error made)

Overall error % for Apr month for UK is 0% ( 1 error opportunity and 0 error made)

I have a raw data like shown  below :

Request numberLocation/SiteMonthError OpportunityErrorError%  = (error count _yes/error Opportunity)
1USAApr1Yes100%
2USAApr1No0%
3UKApr1No0%
4USAMay1Yes100%

Refreshable dataset with data from On-premise BC AND Sharepoint

Hello

I can make refreshable dataset with data from:

- On-premise BC via "Gateway connection"

- Sharepoint file via "Data source credentials"

But I cannot make a refreshable dataset with data from both. I get this error:

"Scheduled refresh is disabled because at least one data source is missing credentials. To start the refresh again, go to this dataset's settings page and enter credentials for all data sources. Then reactivate scheduled refresh."

I have entered the "Data source credentials" for sharepoint info, but the gateway has listed this error: Web{"url":"https://HIDDEN.sharepoint.com/sites/SITENAME/Shared%20Documents/File.xlsx"}

to the right it says "Optional - Add to gateway", but I can't seem to add it to the gateway no matter which Authentication Method i try. I assume that this is the reason why i get the error for Scheduled Refresh

Any ideas will be highly appreciated 🙂

Unrecognized data source with dbf database

Good morning everyone, several months ago I started with this project of creating a report with a data source unfortunately already obsolete for me, but it is the one used by the system in the place where I work, I had many inconveniences to be able to do the massive load of all the data from the different databases in DBF, luckily in the last 45 days I was able to make a lot of progress and I was already shaping the report, but now when I want to do the data synchronization test to schedule automatic updates.
I was able to publish the report with the data without problems, I can connect from power bi desktop without problems with the data source in my Power BI panel in the cloud, but when I want to configure the data source with the gateway it tells me the error seen in the image. It doesn't even give me the option to configure and I really don't know what to do, I'm really disoriented about it.
I would appreciate any kind of help and experience working in synchronization with DBF.
From already thank you very much,
Regards.

Hi all,

my company has several possible domains. Is it possible to refresh Power BI report using gateway installed on different domain than SQL database? I tried to set up scheduled refresh receiving "failed to impersonate" error.
Is only solution for to use Basic Authentication?

Reticulate Error Power BI Services (Custom R Visualizations)

I have created a working report in Power BI Desktop and I am trying to publish it to Power BI Services. Within custom R visualizations I have made, I have used reticulate and I am having trouble accessing python on Power BI Services. For my visualizations, I receive the following error:

Error in initialize_python(required_module, use_environment) : Installation of Python not found, Python bindings not loaded.

I have also tried using the conda environment 'r-reticulate' and received the following error then:

Error: Unable to find conda binary. Is Anaconda installed?

I am confused why reticulate is not successfully binding to python since reticulate appears to be a supported package in Power BI. Is there anyway I can successfully bind my R code to python so that I can use reticulate in Power BI Services?

Problem when sharing reports using URL that resides in external users workspaces

Hi all

We are facing an issue when sharing reports.

Let me introduce my environment....

compartir.png

We have some external users woking on my Powerbi Tennant.

Pepe has developed a Billing Report. It resides in her own workspace inside my tenant company....

Pepe want to share Billing Report with Jose and me.

Note: For security and privacy reasons, we disabled direct sharing so we "share the URL" (copy url and send by email, chat, etc)

Captura de pantalla de 2020-07-17 11-49-05.png

So the first time Jose and me we want to see the report, clic on the link and we have to request access...

  • Request Access: Let's get you access (and an OK button)
  • Submit a Request with space for a message (an a Send Request button)

An email is sent to the report owner to give approval....

Captura de pantalla de 2020-07-17 12-21-00.png

The problem is, when Pepe clic the "Grant access" button, Pepe is redirected to it's "OWN" workspace in it's OWN company Powerbi tenant, not the workspace in mycompany.com !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😠😠😠😠😠

So of course, Pepe got an error

Captura de pantalla de 2020-07-17 12-28-13.png

Yes, of course, the report is not there!!! the report is in Pepe's workspace at mycompany.com

I think this is clearly an not well designed feature, for some reason, grant access link does not recognize in wich workspace the report is.

So, are there any configuration i'm missing?

Can Pepe share reports in other way without revealing entire Active Directory's addresses?

Regards.

Workspace dashboards with multiple data sources? Workspaces across tenants? Looking for input!

Hi All,

I'm working with a client on authoring some dashboards using some of their datasets. They have granted me access to their cloud Sharepoint site through my company's O365 email address. I have been using Power BI Desktop to create dashboard file(s) that utilize multiple Excel files stored on their cloud Sharepoint site. The desktop app is also used to manage relationships between those data sources and fields. So far, so good.

We've hit a bit of a road bump when it comes to figuring out how these dashboards can end up in their Workplace (PowerBI.com service) and automatically update.

First, can a dashboard authored in Desktop maintain data connections and refresh automatically after it is published to a Workspace? If so, how do you update the connection credentials to Sharepoint within the published dashboard to have the sync function work correctly?

Second, in initial testing, the data sources didn't seem to update after getting published from the desktop app. Thus, I was anticipating needing to create a dataset in their Workspace and generate dashboards off of that data source. Can a dashboard in a Workspace manage multiple data sources and relationships?

Third, as mentioned, my work O365 email address is a member of a different tenant and we can't get our heads around giving me access to their Power BI Workspace. The hope was to just author the datasets and dashboards on their behalf inside their Workspace. To confirm, I would need to be a member of their "tenant" (or O365 org) in order to have authorship access within their Workspace -- is that correct that tenant-to-tenant Workspace sharing is not an option?

Let me be clear on the end goal: we simply need to get dashboards with multiple data sources (Excel on their Sharepoint) with managed relationships into their Workspace. Any suggestions on how to do this?

Question on the size of imported dataset (limitation & compression ratio between different stages)

$

Hello

I have read that Power BI limits each imported dataset to 1 GB
whatever the license
In my case, I import data from SQL DB Azure
1) Must be based on the size of the pbix file to check this limit
or is it the sum of the size tables that we observe in DaxStudio for example?
2) Are there average ratios of size differences between the different stages?
SQL Data size = Ratio1 * Model size (I read 10 thanks to vertipack)
Model size = Ratio2 * pbix file size
3) About the size in my case I have
Pbix file = 157KB
Size of the model in DaxStudio (all tables) = 4.63MB

By cons I do not understand why management studio shows me his side -> 0.99MB for the model?

And why in Service, I observe 2GB for the dataset in storage management?

thank you in advance for your help

SSAS Credentials Work in PowerBI Desktop but Not in PowerBI Service

One of the data sources in my report is an SSAS OLAP cube and below are the permission settings that I am currently using. My credentials allow me to refresh the data in PowerBI desktop. However, when I try to refresh the data in PowerBI service using these same credentials, an error appears saying my credentials are invalid.  Only one option is given for Authentication method, which is the one in the screenshot.

Hi,

We are developing a report (screenshot attached) that we plan to embed in our application. Screenshot.png

We are facing two challenges during development

1. The report development is taking a long time

2. We are not able to get the desired look and feel due to formatting limitations in the tool

We are new to Power BI and want your thoughts on if we are using the tool in the right way?

Any suggestions on ways to overcome the above challenges will be very helpful.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Copy and Paste of Power BI Visual into MS Office version dependent on Office?

Hello,

I am trying to copy and paste a Power BI visual into Word/Powerpoint.  We(company laptops) are on MS Office 2016 standard version.  The visuals will not paste in the version of Word or Power Point.  (Pastes fine in Google doc)

When I log into the same Power BI tenant from my home computer (has MS Office 365), then it works just fine.

Is there a minimum version number for MS Office that this works in?

Thanks,

Amy

Microsoft Dynamics NAV Content Pack - Not Found

Does anyone know if the Dynamics NAV Content Pack is still available? I've seen references to it in the forum but nothing pops up when I go to Power BI >> Get Data >> Services. I've searched by keywords & manually went through the different categories. I even typed out the direct URL from one of the screenshots in a related forum post and Power BI just loads the generic Get Data page. Does anyone know if it's been discontinued?

Thanks
