Filter type changing when I publish to app

Hi there,

All my filters in my report are drop downs. When I publish to my app some of them are changing to list view. I have removed all bookmarks, reuploaded from Power BI desktop and repblished but none of them are fixing it.

I've only noticed this in the past couple of days.

Any help greatly appreciated 🙂

What license do I need to embed report into my company's app and share to my colleagues?

Have embeded PowerBI report into my company's APP and share to my colleagues, they can view it now.

I have 1 pro-account for me to compose report and setup the embed, but whether my colleagues need license to view the reports?

They are already able to view it on my app, to my understanding, they don't need any license to view it, just want to make sure if my company need to purchase more license.

Best database option for small business

I have a client who uses a Rest API to retrieve data from their corporate database, currently they pull the data down and into excel, using Power query to massage the data, and push the data back into Power BI web service.

Since they do not use premium, they have no ability to refresh the data automatically without relying on scripts and excel. This increases the chance of error.

I was wondering if it made more sense to pull the data into a cloud based database using API at set intervals, then direct Power BI to the database to pull the data into the Power BI Web Service.

Do you recommend a cloub based database other than azure or sql server? The company is too small for the large expenses related with premium and azure.

I'm encountering this error while displaying my visual. Seems like error show only when I do select all.

Maybe my DAX measures are too much for system to handle it. Any other way to code the dax below? I'm using date intelligent for KPI.

Measure 1

TotalWOthismonth =

VAR Category = FILTER(swWorkProcFleet_Cat1,swWorkProcFleet_Cat1[Description] IN {"Critical Equipment","Schedule Maint","Survey","Shore Service"})

VAR MinDate = DATE(YEAR(Today()),1,1)

VAR TotalOverdue = CALCULATE([#Datecompleted],Category,
DATESBETWEEN('Calendar 1'[Date],MinDate,TODAY()-1))

VAR OverduePreviousMonths =
CALCULATE([#Datecompleted],Category,FILTER(swEqptHistory,[Current Month] = 0))

VAR firstDayMonth = DATE(Year(Today()), Month(Today()),1)

VAR TotalWOthismonth = CALCULATE([# Total WO],Category,
DATESBETWEEN('Calendar 1'[Date],firstDayMonth,Today()))
Return
TotalWOthismonth + OverduePreviousMonths

Measure 2
% Critical Eqpt =
DIVIDE([#Critical No.],[TotalWOthismonth])

good day

I am the owner of a dataset and a report and can easily attach a visualization to a dashboard.

if I try the same thing with one of my employees, it won't work. however, the employee has read access to the dataset and the report. I also tested to grant the highest possible access, but attaching a visual to the employee's dashboard does not work.

the button is grayed out and cannot be pressed

Could you please help me?

Data transfer from Power BI Service to Power Automate

$

I am searching for a feature/method that allows Power BI to transfer data in a form of string to Power Automate for Processing.

The data should be just a list of words.

Lets just say: list_data = "A1, B2, C3, D4" or list_data = ["A1","B2","C3","D4"]

All I want is to send this list of data from Power BI to Microsoft Power Automate so that I can send an email out to the recipient.

Something like this:

Dear Sir/Madam,

Here is the list that you are finding: A1, B2, C3, D4

Currently, I only know that Power BI Alert (for Cards, KPI, Gauge) can be used to pull certain parameters such as Threshold and TileValue into Power Automate. But the TileValue has to be numerical. (Failed when trying to pass string data).

So I was wondering if there is anything I can make as a data transfer bridge between Power BI and Power Automate.

Thank you very much.

Streaming Dataset - DateTime issuses

Hi All,

I've got a streaming dataset that I post a datetime to but when trying to build a report in PBI desktop, the field is not recognised as a datetime and there seems to be no way to change it. The datetime is submitted in ANSI format.

I need to be able to filter my report by latest datetime but can't.

Streaming dataset field:

Field in desktop:

Sam_L_1-1594719894777.png

I notice that the dates come is as US format (despite all my browsers and system regions being set to UK). Wondering if this has anything to do with it?

Anyone got any ideas? This has been driving me mad for ages.

migrating from content packs to powerbi apps

I would like to migrate my reports from content packs to apps. Atm, i have multiple reports created from one data set, which is shared via content pack. My goal would be to share the same data set via app.

How do I transfer my old reports, which are attached to the content pack, to the 'new' data set, without recreating them?

Thank you!

My published report and Dashboard are not showing the latest data after refresh. I was using imported data from Excel on PBI desktop.

May I know if I have to publish the report and pin the visual to dashboard again everyime after I updated the datasource?

And may I know if the change of data type is available on powerbi Service?

Thanks!!

Remove the filters from a visual which are inherited from its report in Embedded PBI

Hi,
I tried to get a single visual from an embedded  report using javascript in visual studio. I used getVisuals() as mentioned in Embedded Power BI Playground. It's working fine. But while getting the single visual, I could see the filter is also coming from the report on visual display. I tried to remove the all possible filters from visuals using functions as mentioned in the Embedded PBI Playground. Even I tried to remove filters from report and get visuals, but still no luck. Could anyone please help me on this?

Account Schedule Line Table

Hi,

I am trying to query using postman for the Account Schedule Line Table. Looking specifically for the totaling and Dimension 2 Totaling columns.

If I try this:

https://api.businesscentral.dynamics.com/v2.0/{tenantID}/Production/ODataV4/{CompanyID}/powerbifinance

I am able to get something like this

"value": [ { "@odata.etag": "W/\"JzQ0O2RaeGZDSmZ6aVNkZmFqcFNRMjNXNUU2dnFpMURwZWpMek13UHlidWloMmM9MTswMDsn\"", "No": 1, "Date": "2019-01-01", "Closed_Period": true, "Account_Schedule_Name": "_INC_ALL", "KPI_Code": "code", "KPI_Name": "NET INCOME (LOSS)", "Net_Change_Actual": 0, "Balance_at_Date_Actual": 0, "Net_Change_Budget": 0, "Balance_at_Date_Budget": 0, "Net_Change_Actual_Last_Year": 0, "Balance_at_Date_Actual_Last_Year": 0, "Net_Change_Budget_Last_Year": 0, "Balance_at_Date_Budget_Last_Year": 0, "Net_Change_Forecast": 0, "Balance_at_Date_Forecast": 0 },

But When I export the Config File and get the Acc. Schedule Line table it has more columns then the powerbifinance query.

Account Schedule Lines ColumnsAccount Schedule Lines Columns

I have also tried using the webservice endpoint to look for endpoints that could get me this table(I have tried Account_Schedules and Acc_Schedule_Overview) which both have relvant information but not the columns im looking for.

How should I approach this? Or is it even possible to get that information?

Thanks!

Hi All,

I have a report which consists of header section which static text then a table visual having variable number of row and finally a footer section with some static text. I'm attaching a sample below. When we export this report into PDF, it only export the header and the table enteries that are visible on the screen. Is there any workaround to export the complete report into PDF from Power BI Service.

Unable to refresh access database

Hello everyone,

I have a .accdb file that contains data for a report hosted in the powerbi service. however, I am encountering an issue where when i press refresh it gives me the following error:

error":{"code":"DM_GWPipeline_Gateway_MashupDataAccessError","pbi.error":{"code":"DM_GWPipeline_Gateway_MashupDataAccessError","parameters":{},"details":[{"code":"DM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingErrorCode","detail":{"type":1,"value":"-2147467259"}},{"code":"DM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingErrorMessage","detail":{"type":1,"value":"Microsoft Access: The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine. The 64-bit version of the Access Database Engine 2010 Access Database Engine OLEDB provider may be required to read

On my machine i have Microsft office 2010 32-bit installed, as well as the 32 bit version on power bi desktop. I have also installed the 32-bit Microsoft Access Engine so I am unsure as to why the error states that it need the 64-bit version.

Has anyone got any ideas for a possible fix for this?
