Unable to Test Connection in Power BI Service

Description:

I am experiencing an issue where testing the connection to my cloud-hosted PostgreSQL database fails in Power BI Service, even though the data loads correctly in Power BI Desktop. Additionally, the scheduled refreshes for existing reports in Power BI Service are executing successfully, but I receive an error when testing the connection or trying to modify the refresh schedule.

Issue Details:

  • Connection Type: PostgreSQL (Cloud-hosted)
  • Power BI Desktop: I am able to successfully connect to the database, load data, and perform operations without any issues.
  • Power BI Service:
    • Data Refresh: The existing reports continue to refresh successfully without errors.
    • Test Connection: The issue arises when testing the connection to the PostgreSQL database within Power BI Service.
    • Edit Schedule: Although the existing refresh schedules work, I am unable to edit their schedule due to this error.

Error Message:

I receive the following error when I test the connection in Power BI Service:

Error code: DataAccessError Connection error: Data access error Cluster URI: https://api.powerbi.com Session ID: e13f44e4-750f-4bdd-9b00-88d696b179dc Request ID: 4aa9e19a-df3e-4c94-a6b1-0bd1218b8c33 Time: Fri Sep 20 2024 14:05:29 GMT+0400 (Gulf Standard Time) : undefined: An error happened while reading data from the provider: 'Could not load file or assembly 'System.Runtime.CompilerServices.Unsafe, Version=6.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.'

Questions:

  1. Could this issue be related to a dependency or assembly missing in the Power BI Service environment, or does it require further configuration on my end?
  2. Why is the issue only occurring during the "test connection" phase and not impacting the actual scheduled data refreshes?
  3. How can I resolve the issue preventing me from editing the refresh schedules for these existing reports?
