I have an app published on a Pro-level workspace. The one report in this app that is not accessible to my audiences is sourcing its data from the default semantic model of a lakehouse in a Fabric capacity workspace.
- The firm's staff have been assigned report read permissions from the Fabric workspace. (no impact)
- The option to share this default semantic model is greyed out.
- The firm's staff have already been granted Read and ReadAll permissions on the lakehouse. (no impact)
- Granting Viewer permission on the Fabric capacity workspace is the only thing I've found that allows access to the report in the app, but it also exposes the entire Fabric capacity workspace and sensitive assets (Big No-No).
Is there some secret setting to enable sharing the default semantic model? Will sharing the semantic model actually make the app-published reporting visible to my users?
This has been an incredibly frustrating experience and the training material and documentation that I've been able to find has not sufficiently conceptualized this mess of permission management.
