I had a interesting use case in my company.A user was refreshing dataset in service using personal gateway.The data source connection on service says Database: master but the reprot actually doesnt not query master db but the other db's in that server.Their model queries different databses on the same server.I am not sure how personal gateway allows querying any db knowing the fact that we can't configure personal gateway and add data sources.
How different would it be with Enterprise gateway.I treid to add data source(replicating the data source credentials as his pbi report in service) as server:abcd1234 ,database: master in the enterprise GW configuration,connection succeeded.However,i would like to know if this approach is acceptable and supported.If yes,instead of adding different sources in the gateway,we can just create a connection to master db in the server and control user level access on database by by admins.
